kind words

“Whitney was wonderful to work with!”

She was very responsive when I had questions or concerns. She did not judge what we had been doing or when we struggled to follow the plan. As a mom herself, she understood the challenges and knows each child is very different. We had a very positive experience all around and our little one is going to sleep with more ease and having less wake-ups during the night!

“We could not recommend Slumber Fix enough!”

Working with Whitney for 2 weeks completely changed our son’s sleeping habits. Before we met Whitney, our son was waking up every few hours in the night, needing assistance to go to sleep, and napping for 30 minutes at a time. After just 2 weeks of working with Whitney, our son has now learned how to go to sleep independently, nap for longer stretches, and decreased night wakings to 1-2 each night. We have also learned how to support him better as he continues to develop his sleeping skills. Whitney also assisted us with navigating his sleep schedule while traveling. We are truly amazed at the progress we have seen in such a short window of time!

Frequently Asked Questions

A pediatric sleep consultant is someone who is certified through a program that teaches all things pediatric sleep – sleep science, sleep patterns and child development, different sleep training techniques, age appropriate sleep needs, sleep and feeding schedules, safe sleep environments, best practices for naps and bedtime, etc. Sleep consultants learn all things baby and child sleep, then learn how to synthesize that info to solve sleep issues for little ones and their families. We learn about your child, your needs, and your life, then apply our knowledge to create a plan that is a perfect fit for your unique needs. We then offer 1:1 support as you implement the plan, ensuring progress and helping you establish a new path forward.

When you work with a sleep consultant, we skip the mountains of info that is out there and get right to the good stuff. I am able to assess your situation, develop a plan specifically for you and your child, and then support you as you put that plan in place. As you help your child develop independence and consistency around naps and night sleep, I’m supporting you through the entire process – answering questions, reassuring you that all is well, and helping make adjustments along the way. Think of a sleep consultant like a personal trainer, but for sleep!

I work with ages 0-6. The support I offer looks different depending on the age and stage of your child.
My offers start with expecting parents or those in the “fourth trimester” (0-3 months old). We go over sleep expectations for newborns, safe sleep environments and nursery set-up, tip and tricks for soothing, and more. We are “sleep-shaping” at this age, not sleep training yet. Getting some healthy habits in place early (and avoiding the bad ones) set you up for so much sleep success!

Around 4 months, babies kick the Moro Reflex and finally develop those circadian rhythms – both crucial for more consistent sleep to take place. There is also SO much growing, changing, and awareness this point, so sleep can be a complex issue! This is a prime time to start establishing some independence and consistency with sleep.

We all know toddlers and sleep can be tricky at best! Whether it’s bedtime rebellion, night wakings, or depending on co-sleeping, teaching toddlers healthy sleep habits can be a complex thing. I’m here to help! All little ones need a certain amount of sleep every day for optimal mental and physical development, and we can make that happen together!

No matter your age or stage, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m happy to hear your struggles and see if I’m a good fit for your needs.

Many think that sleep training and “cry it out” are synonymous – this is not the case! Crying it out, or the Ferber method, is only one of many approaches, and one I don’t usually recommend. If you are looking for a more gradual, parent-present approach, you’ve come to the right place. Our littles ones usually shed tears when something is difficult, new, or not what they’re used to – this isn’t always bad. Sleep training can most certainly involve tears but never involves abandoning or disconnecting from your child – quite the opposite. You’re becoming more attune to their needs, and giving them the love and support to learn crucial sleep skills.

I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach for teaching sleep skills. I write your plan around your specific situation and needs, the age and stage of your child, family dynamics, and goals you hope to accomplish in working together.

Absolutely not. Independent sleep can be taught even while night feeds are still necessary for your baby, which for many will be throughout infancy. However, if you’re wanting to cut back on night feeds I can certainly help!
